Bertolt who?

You gentlemen who think you have a mission
To purge us of the seven deadly sins
Should first sort out the basic food position
Then start your preaching, that’s where it begins

You lot who preach restraint and watch your waist as well
Should learn, for once, the way the world is run
However much you twist or whatever lies that you tell
Food is the first thing, morals follow on

So first make sure that those who are now starving
Get proper helpings when we all start carving
What keeps mankind alive?

What keeps mankind alive?
The fact that millions are daily tortured
Stifled, punished, silenced and oppressed
Mankind can keep alive thanks to its brilliance
In keeping its humanity repressed
And for once you must try not to shriek the facts
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts

You groups who march and put on demonstrations
To save us from the evils of war
Should focus on the learning situation
So that everyone can understand your words

You folks who shout “Peace and Understanding”
Should learn for once the way the world is run
Reactionary measures may make you feel better
But they don’t very often get the job done.

So gather all who understand your reasons
And elect them; they’re the ones to lead us.
What keeps Mankind live?

What keeps mankind alive?
The fact that millions are spent daily on the instruments of war? No.
Mankind can keep alive thanks to his brilliance
And by keeping his humanity in tact
And for once you must try not to shriek the facts
Mankind is kept alive by being a pack

Victory

There are times when it seems the whole world is conspiring against you. A gritting of the teeth. Perhaps a small bite of the lip. You can defeat the world.

There are times when it seems the whole universe is conspiring against you. Then the dog sticks his nose in your face and wags his tail with delight.
Not the whole universe.

There are times when it seems the cosmos are conspiring against you. You take the left turn home instead of your usual right. There, on the third block, a pedestrian, in every sense of the word, makes eye contact with you through the window of your car and smiles. You make it home and have an appetite for a cookie.

There are times when it seems God is conspiring against you ...

Wait.

Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.
